01

Overview

The myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) differentiation pathway refers to the molecular and cellular processes by which immature myeloid cells develop into MDSCs, a heterogeneous population of immunosuppressive cells. These cells are primarily generated from myeloid precursors in the bone marrow under pathological conditions such as cancer, chronic inflammation, infection, trauma, and autoimmune diseases. Key regulators include STAT3, C/EBPβ, and c-Rel. MDSCs play a central role in suppressing adaptive immune responses and contribute to tumor progression. Targeting this pathway is an active area for novel anti-cancer therapies.
