Overview

MYLK antisense RNA 1 (MYLK-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the myosin light chain kinase (MYLK) gene. MYLK-AS1 has no protein-coding potential. It acts as an oncogenic regulator in several cancers, notably hepatocellular carcinoma and non-small cell lung cancer, where it promotes cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and drug resistance. Mechanistically, MYLK-AS1 modulates EGFR/HER2-ERK1/2 signaling and can regulate glutamine metabolism, contributing to cancer progression and poor patient outcomes. Its high expression is associated with tumor aggressiveness and can serve as a biomarker or potential therapeutic target in some cancer settings[3][4][5].
