Target intelligence / Profile preview
The mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm) in myocardial cells is the electric gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane. This electrochemical gradient is essential for mitochondrial energy production, driving ATP synthesis via oxidative phosphorylation. Alterations in ΔΨm are early indicators of cardiac pathologies, including heart failure and ischemia-reperfusion injury. It is also used for targeted drug delivery & diagnostic imaging.
