Target intelligence / Profile preview
Myocardin-related transcription factor B (MRTF-B) is a member of the myocardin family of transcriptional coactivators. It acts as a powerful coactivator for serum response factor (SRF), a ubiquitously expressed transcription factor essential for cardiac and smooth muscle gene regulation. MRTF-B is broadly expressed and plays key roles in cardiovascular morphogenesis, neuronal development, and cytoskeletal organization. It is regulated by actin dynamics and Rho signaling, and its knockout leads to severe cardiovascular defects and embryonic lethality.
