Myosin-binding protein C (MyBP-C) is a thick filament-associated protein found in striated muscle sarcomeres. It plays a crucial role in thick filament structure and organization, as well as regulation of muscle contraction. The cardiac isoform (cMyBP-C), encoded by the MYBPC3 gene, is expressed exclusively in heart muscle. Mutations in MYBPC3 are a common cause of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
