Overview

N-acetyltransferase 14 (NAT14) is a putative member of the acetyltransferase enzyme family that in humans is encoded by the NAT14 gene. It is predicted to possess N-acetyltransferase and acyltransferase activity, but experimental evidence for such enzymatic function remains lacking, and its canonical substrates have not been established[1][2][3][7][9]. NAT14 has also been suggested to function as a transcription factor, possibly regulating the expression of coproporphyrinogen oxidase by binding to promoter elements[1][5][6]. The protein is reportedly localized to the nucleus and may be involved in the regulation of DNA-templated transcription and cell cycle processes[1][5][6]. There is no established therapeutic relevance or known drugs targeting NAT14, nor clear roles as a clinical biomarker or disease gene[1][2].
