Overview

NAD-dependent deacetylase sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) is a highly conserved enzyme that plays a central role in cellular regulation, metabolism, and stress response. It regulates numerous physiological processes through deacetylation of histones and non-histone proteins, impacting chromatin structure, gene expression, and the activity of transcription factors. Its activity is tightly regulated by cellular NAD+ levels and interactions with binding partners.
