Overview

NDUFAF4P4 is a processed pseudogene in the human genome annotated as NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase complex assembly factor 4 pseudogene 4. Unlike its functional counterpart NDUFAF4, which encodes a mitochondrial assembly factor involved in respiratory complex I formation and whose mutations cause mitochondrial complex I deficiency[3][14], NDUFAF4P4 itself does not encode a protein and does not contribute to any known biological functions, molecular interactions, or disease processes[7][13][16]. As such, it is not considered a therapeutic target or molecular biomarker, and there are no drugs or safety considerations associated with it. NDUFAF4P4 should not be confused with the functional gene NDUFAF4. The pseudogene status means it has no protein product, no direct biological role, and no actionable disease or drug information. This makes it ineligible for structured information as a conventional target[7][10][13][16].
