NADPH-dependent diflavin oxidoreductase 1 (NDOR1) is an enzyme encoded by the NDOR1 gene in humans[6]. It contains both flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) binding domains[1][5]. NDOR1 catalyzes the transfer of electrons from NADPH via FAD and FMN prosthetic groups to downstream redox partners, particularly contributing to the cytosolic iron-sulfur (Fe-S) protein assembly machinery. It specifically transfers electrons to CIAPIN1 and CISD1, thus playing a central role in Fe-S cluster assembly and repair[6][7]. NDOR1 is widely conserved among eukaryotes[3] and acts as a redox partner in various cellular processes related to metabolism and iron-sulfur cluster protein maturation. Dysfunction or mutations associated with the NDOR1 gene have been linked to hereditary pigmentary disorders and chronic rhinitis[1].
