Target intelligence / Profile preview

Nandrolone (19-Nortestosterone)

Target
19-Nortestosterone
Molecular classification
Anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS), Androgen, Progestogen
01

Overview

Nandrolone (19-nortestosterone) is an anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) that promotes muscle growth and increases red blood cell production. It acts as an agonist of the androgen receptor (AR) and the progesterone receptor (PR). Nandrolone is derived from prohormones such as 4-norandrostenedione and 4-norandrostenediol through metabolic conversion in the body.

Other names
19-NortestosteroneDurabolin
02

Mechanism of action

Nandrolone binds to the androgen receptor (AR) and progesterone receptor (PR), leading to increased protein synthesis and anabolic effects. Its lower androgenicity compared to testosterone in some tissues is due to its conversion to a less potent metabolite by 5α-reductase.
