NARF antisense RNA 1 (NARF-AS1)

Target
NARF-AS1
Molecular classification
Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), Natural antisense transcript (NAT)

Overview

NARF antisense RNA 1 (NARF-AS1) is a human long noncoding natural antisense transcript, transcribed from the strand opposite the NARF gene. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it does not encode a protein and is thought to act primarily in gene regulation, possibly influencing expression of overlapping or neighboring protein-coding genes through various transcriptional or epigenetic mechanisms. Its exact function remains uncharacterized, and no evidence currently links it to direct disease, biomarker, or druggable target status.
