The Nasal Mucosa Physical Barrier is a complex system of cellular structures, primarily tight junctions, adherens junctions, and desmosomes within the nasal epithelium, that provides a selective barrier against external threats. It prevents the entry of allergens, pathogens, and irritants, maintaining tissue homeostasis and limiting immune activation. Disruption of this barrier contributes to inflammatory airway diseases, making its restoration a key therapeutic target.
