Native-like HIV Envelope Glycoprotein Trimer (HIV Env trimer)

Target
HIV Env trimer
Molecular classification
Glycoprotein, Viral protein
01

Overview

The HIV-1 Env trimer is a complex, heavily glycosylated protein composed of three gp120 surface subunits non-covalently associated with three gp41 transmembrane subunits. It mediates virus entry by binding CD4 and co-receptors (CCR5 or CXCR4) on host cells. Stabilized soluble versions are engineered to maintain native-like structure outside membranes. Presenting these trimers as immunogens aims to guide B cell responses toward bnAb precursors by mimicking authentic epitope presentation seen during infection.
