Overview

Natriuretic Peptide Receptor C (NPR-C) is a homodimeric membrane receptor that binds ANP, BNP, and CNP. Its primary function is to clear natriuretic peptides from circulation via internalization and degradation. While initially considered biologically silent, NPR-C can also modulate intracellular signaling pathways, including adenylyl cyclase and phospholipase C. NPR-C is widely expressed and plays a role in cardiovascular regulation and cardiac remodeling, making it a potential therapeutic target for hypertension and heart failure.
