Natural Cytotoxicity Receptor 1 (NCR1)

Target
NCR1
Molecular classification
Immunoglobulin superfamily, Type I transmembrane protein, Receptor

Overview

NKp46, also known as Natural Cytotoxicity Receptor 1 (NCR1), is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is primarily expressed on natural killer (NK) cells, but can also be found on certain subsets of T cells and innate lymphoid cells (ILCs). NKp46 plays a central role in the activation and regulation of NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity against tumor cells, virus-infected cells, and some pathogens.

Mechanism of action

NKp46 engagement leads to activation signals that result in target cell lysis. The transmembrane arginine allows association with ITAM-containing adaptor proteins such as CD3ζ or FcRγ for signal transduction.
