Unlike the functional NCR2, this pseudogene does not produce an active receptor protein and is therefore not involved in NK cell function, immune recognition, signaling, or any established therapeutic role[7]. Misidentification with the functional NCR2 gene could result in scientific error; the correct drug target and receptor function information pertains to NCR2 (Ensembl ENSG00000096264)[2][7].
