Overview
NKp46 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed almost exclusively on natural killer (NK) cells. It functions as a key activating receptor, triggering cytolytic activity and cytokine production upon engagement with pathogen-derived or stress-induced ligands on target cell surfaces. It plays roles in anti-tumor immunity and antiviral responses but may also contribute to autoimmune conditions.

Mechanism of action
Engagement with ligands or cross-linking by antibodies induces rapid increases in intracellular calcium, triggers cytolytic activity, and stimulates cytokine/lymphokine production.
