Natural Killer Cell Receptor 2A (NKG2A)

Target
NKG2A
Molecular classification
Receptor, C-type lectin-like receptor, Type II membrane protein
01

Overview

Natural Killer Cell Receptor 2A (NKG2A), also known as CD159a, is an inhibitory immune checkpoint receptor primarily expressed on natural killer (NK) cells, natural killer T (NKT) cells, and subsets of CD8+ T cells. It forms a heterodimer with CD94 and interacts with HLA-E to deliver inhibitory signals, suppressing the cytotoxic activity of NK and T cells. NKG2A is being explored as a therapeutic target in cancer immunotherapy to enhance anti-tumor immunity by blocking its inhibitory function.
