NKp44 (NCR2, CD336) is an activating receptor expressed on activated natural killer (NK) cells and some innate lymphoid cell subsets. It belongs to the natural cytotoxicity receptor (NCR) family and plays a critical role in recognizing and eliminating virus-infected and tumor cells. Upon ligand binding, NKp44 signals through the DAP12 adaptor protein to trigger NK cell effector functions. The receptor interacts with both activating and inhibitory ligands, such as PCNA, which can modulate its activity.
