NCKAP5 antisense RNA 2 (NCKAP5-AS2) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 2 (chr2:133264968-133285490, hg38)[1][4]. It is classified as an antisense RNA because its transcript is complementary to the NCKAP5 mRNA[4][6]. As with other antisense RNAs, NCKAP5-AS2 is presumed to have a role in regulating gene expression, either by affecting the transcription, stability, or translation of its sense counterpart, or by interacting with chromatin or protein complexes[6]. There is currently no established evidence of NCKAP5-AS2 as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or entity interacting with drugs, nor clear direct disease involvement. Its characterization remains largely at the transcript annotation and molecular categorization level.
