Overview

NDUFB2 antisense RNA 1 (NDUFB2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 11, transcribed from the strand opposite the protein-coding NDUFB2 gene, which encodes a subunit of mitochondrial complex I. NDUFB2-AS1 is approximately 3,000 nucleotides in length, does not encode a protein, and its precise biological function is not fully elucidated. It is postulated to regulate the expression of the NDUFB2 gene—implicating a potential regulatory role in mitochondrial respiration and cellular energy production—but definitive functional data remain limited. Notably, NDUFB2-AS1 has been reported as a prognostic biomarker in several cancer types, suggesting disease relevance, although it is not directly established as a therapeutic target. There is no information available on drug interactions or specific mechanisms of action, nor established safety or therapeutic challenge data.
