NDUFS7 antisense RNA 1 (NDUFS7-AS1) is an antisense long non-coding RNA transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the NDUFS7 gene, which encodes a core subunit of mitochondrial complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase). While antisense lncRNAs are increasingly recognized for their roles in regulating gene expression, imprinting, and chromatin organization[4][6], specific characterization of NDUFS7-AS1—including its sequence, tissue expression, biological role, or disease involvement—is not available in current sources. It is not reported as a protein, enzyme, receptor, or common drug target, and its molecular biology remains largely unexplored in the primary literature as of September 2025. NDUFS7-AS1 should not be confused with the NDUFS7 protein, which is well characterized as a complex I subunit and a validated mitochondrial disease gene[5][3][1][7].
