NECAP endocytosis associated 1 pseudogene 1 (NECAP1P1) is a human pseudogene corresponding to the protein-coding gene NECAP1. Pseudogenes are non-functional gene sequences that resemble functional genes but lack protein-coding capacity due to mutations or deletions. While some pseudogenes can influence gene regulation by acting as microRNA decoys or through other RNA-mediated processes[2], there is no evidence that NECAP1P1 performs such regulatory functions. Unlike NECAP1, which participates in clathrin-mediated endocytosis and is implicated in some neurological diseases[1], NECAP1P1 has no known biological or clinical significance. It is not a therapeutic target.
