Neighbor of BRCA1 gene 2 pseudogene

The "neighbor of BRCA1 gene 2 pseudogene" is a non-protein-coding pseudogene located near the BRCA1 gene region on chromosome 17. Unlike the functional NBR2 gene, which encodes a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) and may have roles in cancer biology, the pseudogene does not encode a functional protein or RNA product and has no established direct biological or disease role[7][9][10][12]. Its presence may be relevant only in genetic studies of the BRCA1 locus and genomic structure.\n\nThis entry should not be confused with the functional NBR2 lincRNA, which is adjacent to BRCA1 and does possess relevant biological activity, particularly in cancer and cell metabolism[12]. The pseudogene, however, does not have a known function or therapeutic/druggable relevance and is not a validated biological or pharmacological target.
