Target intelligence / Profile preview
Neisseria meningitidis group C capsular polysaccharide–CRM197 conjugate is a synthetic vaccine antigen composed of the purified capsular polysaccharide from *N. meningitidis* serogroup C covalently linked to CRM197, a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin protein. This conjugation converts the otherwise poorly immunogenic polysaccharide into a T cell-dependent antigen, facilitating robust, long-lasting antibody responses and immunologic memory even in infants and young children—populations not protected by plain polysaccharide vaccines. The conjugate is a primary antigenic component of several licensed meningococcal vaccines (e.g., Menveo, Nimenrix), which are used to prevent invasive group C meningococcal disease including meningitis and septicemia.
Induces production of anti-capsular polysaccharide antibodies that promote opsonization and complement-mediated killing of *Neisseria meningitidis* group C. T cell-dependent immunologic priming via protein carrier (CRM197), enabling immunologic memory and persistence of protection.
