The Neisseria meningitidis serogroup A capsular polysaccharide conjugate antigen is a key component in vaccines designed to prevent invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroup A. This antigen consists of the purified capsular polysaccharide from N. meningitidis serogroup A, which is chemically linked (conjugated) to a carrier protein such as diphtheria toxoid or tetanus toxoid. The conjugation enhances immunogenicity, especially in young children, by inducing a T-cell dependent immune response.
Stimulates production of antibodies specific for the group A capsule, facilitating clearance of bacteria via phagocytosis and complement activation.
