The Neisseria meningitidis serogroup Y polysaccharide antigen-conjugate complex is a key component in several modern vaccines designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease. This target consists of the capsular polysaccharide from *N. meningitidis* serogroup Y, which is chemically conjugated to a carrier protein (commonly tetanus toxoid or diphtheria toxoid). The conjugation enhances immunogenicity, especially in young children and infants, by inducing a T-cell dependent immune response. Antibodies targeting the capsular polysaccharides are crucial for protection against invasive disease; thus, these structures form the basis for both classification into serogroups and vaccine development. Vaccines containing this target are indicated for active immunization against invasive disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis*, including serogroup Y.
