Neisserial heparin-binding antigen (NHBA), also known as GNA2132, is a surface-exposed lipoprotein found in Neisseria species, notably *Neisseria meningitidis* and *Neisseria gonorrhoeae*. It plays a significant role in bacterial pathogenesis through functions such as adhesion to host cells, biofilm formation, and resistance to complement-mediated killing. NHBA is a key component of the 4CMenB (Bexsero) vaccine against serogroup B meningococcal disease, inducing bactericidal antibodies and providing cross-protection against diverse strains. It is processed by bacterial and human proteases, which can affect its function and impact endothelial permeability. The C-terminal domain contains conserved epitopes and forms an eight-stranded β-barrel structure.
