Overview

Hco-MPTL-1 is a nematode-specific subunit of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), primarily found in the parasitic nematode Haemonchus contortus. It belongs to the DEG-3 subfamily of nAChRs, which are ligand-gated ion channels involved in excitatory neurotransmission. This receptor is a primary molecular target of the anthelmintic drug monepantel. Mutations in hco-mptl-1 are associated with resistance to monepantel.
