Neoantigen-presenting dendritic cells are specialized antigen-presenting cells that process and present tumor-specific neoantigens to T lymphocytes, thereby initiating and modulating anti-tumor immune responses. Neoantigens are novel peptide sequences generated by non-synonymous mutations in tumor cell genomes; they are not present in normal tissues, making them highly immunogenic and ideal targets for cancer immunotherapy. These DCs play a crucial role in activating both CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and CD4+ helper T cells to mount an effective anti-tumor immune response. They are being investigated as personalized cancer vaccines.
DCs capture neoantigens, process and present them on MHC I and MHC II molecules, migrate to lymph nodes, and activate CD8+ and CD4+ T cells, leading to tumor cell killing and enhanced anti-tumor immune response.
