Target intelligence / Profile preview
NEPRO antisense RNA 1 (NEPRO-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene that does not encode a protein. As an antisense RNA, it is transcribed from the DNA strand opposite its sense (protein-coding) gene partner, with which it may form RNA duplexes. Antisense RNAs such as NEPRO-AS1 generally regulate gene expression via several mechanisms, including epigenetic regulation, transcriptional interference, and modulation of mRNA stability or translation. NEPRO-AS1 is catalogued in major genomic databases (e.g., HGNC:41049, NCBI Gene:102723430, Ensembl:ENSG00000240057). While dysregulation of some antisense RNAs has been implicated in diseases such as cancer, there is currently no direct evidence linking NEPRO-AS1 itself to specific diseases or identifying it as a drug target in the available search results. NEPRO-AS1 is a non-coding regulatory RNA, not a protein, enzyme, receptor, or transporter. Antisense RNAs as a class have emerging but still experimental therapeutic interest. However, NEPRO-AS1 itself is not a validated therapeutic target, and no drugs or targeting mechanisms are described for this particular gene. No known biomarkers or safety concerns unique to NEPRO-AS1 have been reported in the curated sources.
