01

Overview

Neurexophilin and PC-esterase domain family member 4 (NXPE4) is a protein-coding gene expressed in humans and other species. It belongs to the neurexophilin and PC-esterase domain protein family, with related genes including NXPE1-3. NXPE4 has been proposed as a prognostic biomarker for colorectal cancer: lower mRNA expression in tumor tissues is correlated with certain tumor characteristics and worse outcomes in colorectal cancer patients. There is no experimental evidence for its molecular function or biological process, nor is there evidence that it is targeted by drugs or considered a therapeutic target. NXPE4 is sometimes detected in extracellular exosomes. Common aliases include C11orf33 and FAM55D. At present, NXPE4 serves more as a biomarker than as a classical druggable target.
