Overview

Neuritin-1 like protein (NRN1L) is a human protein encoded by the NRN1L gene and is a member of an activity-regulated ligand family expressed in the nervous system[6][8]. It shares structural similarity with neuritin-1 (NRN1/CPG15) and is thought to be involved in the promotion of neurite growth, neuronal arborization, and neuronal survival during development and differentiation, similar to its paralogue neuritin-1[6][8][1]. NRN1L is predominantly expressed in the nervous system, and animal studies suggest it may participate in neuronal development, plasticity, and potentially the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental diseases[3][6][8]. While NRN1 (neuritin-1) is being investigated for neuroprotective and regenerative roles, direct evidence linking NRN1L to human disease or its use as a therapeutic target is currently lacking, and its exact molecular mechanism, interacting partners, and disease associations remain insufficiently characterized[1][3][6][7][8].
