Overview

Neurobeachin pseudogene 2 (NBEAP2), also known as BCL8D, represents a predicted non-protein-coding pseudogene with sequence similarity to the neuronal protein-coding gene Neurobeachin (NBEA). The canonical Neurobeachin protein is involved in trafficking of synaptic membrane proteins, neuron development, synaptic transmission, and is implicated in autism and neurodevelopmental disorders[1][3][4]. However, there is no evidence that NBEAP2 is expressed as a protein, participates in molecular signaling, or serves as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. There is currently no information supporting any role for NBEAP2 in disease, pharmacology, or physiology. Consequently, NBEAP2 is not regarded as a drug target, receptor, or biomarker.
