Neuroblastoma breakpoint family member 15 (NBPF15) is a protein encoded by the NBPF15 gene located on chromosome 1q21.1 in humans. The protein has a length of 670 amino acids and features multiple DUF1220/Olduvai domains, which are highly repetitive and unique to primates. These domains can self-aggregate and may undergo phase transitions, potentially relevant to neuropsychiatric disease and genomic evolution. NBPF15 belongs to a large family of NBPF genes associated with genomic structural variation; its biological function is not fully elucidated but may relate to oncogenesis and neurodevelopment. While the NBPF gene family is implicated in several cancers and neurodevelopmental disorders, there is currently no evidence of NBPF15 serving as a therapeutic target or a drug-interacting protein.
