Neurofibromin 1 pseudogene 3 (NF1P3) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene that carries sequence homology to part of the functional NF1 gene, which codes for the neurofibromin protein[4][5]. Pseudogenes like NF1P3 originate from duplication and evolutionary transposition events and are generally considered functionless remnants with no protein product, regulatory function, or direct connection to known diseases. NF1P3 is not considered a therapeutic target, and no currently known biomarkers, mechanisms of drug action, or safety concerns are associated with it. It should not be confused with the functional NF1 gene, which plays a critical role in tumor suppression and is causative in neurofibromatosis type 1[4][5].
