Neurofibromin 1 pseudogene 5 (NF1P5) is one of several pseudogenes related to the functional neurofibromin 1 (NF1) gene, which encodes the large tumor suppressor protein neurofibromin involved in Ras signaling[3]. Pseudogenes are non-functional genomic sequences derived from functional genes, typically lacking the ability to encode functional proteins due to mutations, truncations, or other genomic alterations. Multiple NF1-related pseudogenes exist on different chromosomes, such as 2, 14, and 22, and are likely the result of duplication and transposition events during evolution[3]. NF1P5 does not encode a functional protein and has no known direct biological or disease-related function. It is not considered a therapeutic target, nor are there associated drugs, mechanisms of action, or related biomarkers.
