Target intelligence / Profile preview
NEFLP1 (Neurofilament light pseudogene 1) is a pseudogene that shares sequence similarity with the neurofilament light polypeptide (NEFL) gene but does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences resembling genes but are generally noncoding and do not produce functional products; some pseudogenes may potentially regulate other genes through RNA mechanisms, but no such function has been established for NEFLP1. All clinically relevant functions, disease associations, and biomarker uses pertain to the functional NEFL gene and its protein, not to NEFLP1.
