Target intelligence / Profile preview
Neurogenic differentiation factor 1 (NEUROD1), also known as β2, is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor encoded by the NEUROD1 gene in humans. It plays a critical role in neuronal differentiation and maturation, as well as in the regulation of insulin gene expression. NEUROD1 promotes tumor cell proliferation by directly activating metabolic pathways such as the pentose phosphate pathway, and its dysregulation is implicated in several cancers, including colorectal carcinoma.
