Target intelligence / Profile preview
Neurogenin-2 (NEUROG2) is a neural-specific basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor that plays a crucial role in neurogenesis by specifying neuronal fate in ectodermal cells, promoting neuronal differentiation, and supporting the survival of midbrain dopaminergic neurons. It is expressed in neural progenitor cells of the developing central and peripheral nervous system. Mutations or dysregulation of NEUROG2 are associated with neurodevelopmental disorders but it is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target.
