Neuroguidin (NGDN) is a protein that acts as an EIF4E-binding protein and a translational regulatory factor, interacting with CPE-binding protein (CPEB) to repress translation of mRNAs containing cytoplasmic polyadenylation elements (CPE). In neurons, Neuroguidin is expressed in axons, dendrites, growth cones, and filopodia and is important for neural tube closure and migration of neural crest cells during development, functioning as a spatially and temporally specific regulator of protein synthesis. It is not considered a classic therapeutic target such as an enzyme or receptor, and as of now, no drugs are known to interact with Neuroguidin.
