Neuromedin B Receptor (NMBR)

Target
NMBR
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, 7-transmembrane receptor
01

Overview

The neuromedin B receptor (NMBR), also known as BB1, is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) with seven transmembrane domains. Its endogenous ligand is neuromedin B. NMBR mediates various physiological functions by binding neuromedin B, which acts as a potent mitogen and growth factor for normal and neoplastic lung tissue and gastrointestinal epithelial cells. Antagonists targeting NMBR may have therapeutic potential for inhibiting tumor cell growth. Polymorphisms in the NMBR gene have been associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia.
