Target intelligence / Profile preview

Neuropeptide Y receptor subtype 2 (Y2)

Target
Y2
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Receptor, Class A/Rhodopsin-like GPCR
01

Overview

The neuropeptide Y receptor subtype 2 (Y2/NPY2R) is a presynaptically-expressed GPCR involved primarily with satiety signaling but also implicated broadly across neurological/endocrine functions due to its widespread distribution throughout brain regions like hippocampus/hypothalamus as well as peripheral tissues including gut epithelium. Its pharmacology includes both peptide agonists—especially truncated forms—and selective small-molecule antagonists useful for research into appetite control/anxiety/metabolic disease mechanisms.
