Neuropeptide Y receptor subtype 5 (Y5)

Target
Y5
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Receptor
01

Overview

Neuropeptide Y receptor subtype 5 (Y5) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds neuropeptide Y (NPY) and peptide YY (PYY). It is involved in regulating food intake, fat accumulation, and seizure modulation. It is located at the cell membrane and primarily signals via G proteins that inhibit adenylate cyclase activity. The Y5 receptor is implicated in feeding behavior, obesity, and may also play a role in certain cancers. It is a therapeutic target of interest for obesity prevention/treatment and radiopharmaceuticals relevant to cancer imaging or therapy.
