Neuropilin-1 Receptor (NRP1)

Target
NRP1
Molecular classification
Transmembrane glycoprotein, Receptor
01

Overview

Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) is a non-tyrosine kinase transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a co-receptor for various ligands, including vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) and class 3 semaphorins such as SEMA3A. It plays critical roles in angiogenesis, neuronal development, immune regulation, and cell migration/survival. NRP1 is widely expressed and upregulated in many cancers, making it an attractive therapeutic target.

02

Mechanism of action

Targeting NRP1 may enhance cancer immunotherapy efficacy without compromising peripheral tolerance. Facilitates SARS-CoV-2 entry into host cells; considered a potential antiviral drug target due to this function.
