Neurotrimin is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily and a member of the IgLON protein family (which also includes LSAMP, OBCAM, NEGR1, and IGLON5)[1][4][5]. It contains three immunoglobulin-like domains and functions at the neuronal cell surface, mediating cell–cell adhesion via homophilic and heterophilic dimerization[1][2][3]. Neurotrimin is implicated in the development of neural circuits by promoting neurite outgrowth, dendritic branching, and synapse formation, and its expression and genetics have been linked to cognitive function, intelligence, and several neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders[1][3][4]. While NTM shares structural and functional similarities with other IgLONs, emerging studies indicate context-dependent roles in non-neural tissues, including involvement in metabolic regulation and hormone-dependent function[3]. Disease associations are inferred primarily from genetic studies, and there are not yet any drugs directly targeting neurotrimin.
