Neurotrophic Tyrosine Kinase Receptor Type 2 (TrkB)

Target
TrkB
Molecular classification
Receptor Tyrosine Kinase
01

Overview

Neurotrophic Tyrosine Kinase Receptor Type 2 (NTRK2), also known as TrkB, is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates the effects of neurotrophins, particularly Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), and Neurotrophin-4/5 (NT-4). It plays a critical role in neuronal development, differentiation, survival, and synaptic plasticity. Dysregulation or mutations in NTRK2 have been implicated in obesity syndromes and cancer.

Tropomyosin receptor kinase B

Mechanism of action

Tyrosine kinase receptor activation by neurotrophins (BDNF, NT-3, NT-4) leading to downstream signaling via Ras-MAPK/ERK, PI3K-Akt, and PLCγ pathways.
