Neurotrophin-6 (NT-6) is a protein growth factor belonging to the neurotrophin family, which includes nerve growth factor (NGF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), and neurotrophin-4 (NT-4)[2][5]. NT-6 was characterized in certain fish (e.g., Xiphophorus), where it supports survival and differentiation of specific neuronal populations, similar to other neurotrophins but with distinct biochemical properties[2]. It does not appear to have direct orthologs in mammals and is not recognized as having a role in human biology or disease[5]. The term "neurotrophin 6 gamma" or "NTF6G" is not documented in reputable scientific resources, and there is no evidence of such a molecule as a therapeutic target.
