Target intelligence / Profile preview
The neurotrophin signaling pathway is a critical molecular cascade in the nervous system, regulating neuronal survival, differentiation, growth, and function. Neurotrophins exert their effects primarily through the Trk family and the p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR). Activation of Trk receptors leads to autophosphorylation and recruitment of intracellular signaling cascades like MAPK/ERK, PI3K/Akt, and PLCγ. p75NTR can transmit both positive and negative signals, including apoptosis. The pathway regulates neuronal survival, differentiation, axon/dendrite growth, synaptic plasticity, learning & memory. Dysregulation is linked to neurological disorders.
