Neutrophil Chemotaxis

Molecular classification
Cellular process, Signaling pathway
01

Overview

Neutrophil chemotaxis refers to the directed movement of neutrophils toward sites of tissue damage or infection in response to external chemical stimuli. This process is a fundamental component of the innate immune response and enables rapid recruitment of neutrophils to inflamed tissues. It is orchestrated by chemoattractants such as fMLF peptides, C5a complement fragment, and IL‑8/CXCL8, acting on GPCRs like FPR family, CXCR1/CXCR2, and C5aR, triggering intracellular pathways involving Rho GTPases and PI(3,4,5)P3-mediated actin polymerization.
